Abstract
356,768. Kinematograph apparatus. KODEL ELECTRIC & MFG. CO., 507, East Pearl Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. June 5, 1930, No. 17474. Convention date, July 16, 1929. [Class 97 (i).] A kinematograph camera of the type in which a standard width film is shifted alternately one half width and then one half height of an image section, and in which the portion of the film receiving the image is carried by a movable film plate, is characterized by a transverse bar to which the film plate is secured and an uninterrupted cam disc acting on the bar for imparting thereby to the film plate and the portion of film carried thereon a reciprocating movement transversely of the length of the film. Claws alternately entering a longitudinal slot on the film plate are adapted to advance the film longitudinally subsequent to the lateral displacement and exposure of the film. As shown in Fig. 4, the film plate 22, with an aperture 39 of normal width but of half the normal depth, is fixed to a rod 23 slidable in the brackets 24, 25 of the front plate 4, and is provided with rearward projections 26 which are provided with holes engaged by the pin 27 projecting from the plate 5. A pressure plate 29, Fig. 15, carries a spring 33 having a groove 35 which engages the pin 36. The aperture 40 in the front plate 4 is of half the width and the depth of the normal film section. The claws 46 are mounted in the bushes 48, Fig. 6, which are carried by the clawplate 49, which is vertically reciprocated by the cam 55 mounted on the governor shaft 56. The claws, which are held out of engagement with the film by the springs 50, are caused alternately to engage the film through the slot 45 by the levers 57, 58, which are operated by the face-cam 64 on the gear 65 on the shaft 66, the inner end of which carries a cam 70 which operates between the rollers 71, 72 on the rod 23, thus oscillating the plate 22 one-half of a film width. The pin 74, which is linked at 75 to the rod 23 and which is pressed downwards by the spring 77 snaps the rod 23 into its extreme positions. Lateral movements are adjusted by the bushings 79, 80. The film spools are mounted on the spindle 9, Fig. 11, the undriven spool 88 for unexposed film first, and the take-up spool 89 next peripherally driven by the wheel 90 on the spindle 93 carried by the pivoted bracket 92 slotted to engage a stop-pin 100. The pulley 95 integral with the wheel 90 is driven by the spring belt 96 from the pulley 94 on the main shaft 13, which is driven by a spring motor. A sprocket 15 on the shaft 13 is provided with spring-pressed shoes 16, 17 each carrying a pair of pressure rollers 20a, 21.
