356,751. Teaching music. APPIA, T. A., 15, Beckmann Place, New York, U.S.A. June 6, 1930, No. 17613. Convention date, June 6, 1929. [Class 88 (ii).] A device for teaching and studying music comprises a base 22, partitions 25, and a panel 27 which has openings 28 and a blackened horizontal stave 29. The partitions are grooved at 26 to receive sliding cards 36 bearing musical symbols for co-operation with the various lines and spaces of the stave. A dummy keyboard 31 may be hinged to the device, and a portion 30 provided for use as a writing area. A number of symbols on separate small slides 53 .. 56, Fig. 10, may be mounted on one sliding card, enabling chords to be shown, the small slides being guided in complementary slots 52, and being of different sizes so as to nest into one another as shown in Fig. 12. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a device, shown in Figs. 18 (Cancelled) and 20 (Cancelled), and exposing one chord only at a time, wherein the base has a number of guide grooves at one side, the superposed cards 65 extending through slots at the other side for manipulation by finger-pieces 68. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
