[Class 39 (iii).] The brickwork of the furnace is shaped so as to provide parallel ridges supporting each resistance coil B along two lines a<1>, a2, and openings a<3> are made to allow free circulation of air from below the coils. The bricks of the side walls may be bonded so as to baffle the hot air in its rise to the furnace roof.
