Abstract

355,275. Pottery manufacture. WADE & SON, Ltd., G., Manchester Pottery, High Street, Burslem, and WADE, G. A., St. Quentin, Sandy Lane, Newcastle-under- Lyme, both in Staffordshire. April 16, 1930, No. 12011. [Class 87 (i).] Handles and other components are applied to ceramic ware by a machine comprising a standard q carrying a bar o provided with a head n which is adapted to be inserted within the article in order to form an abutment while a member g is actuated to press the component against the exterior of the article. The member g is provided with a series of vertical dovetail guides to receive shaped carriers such as w, Fig. 8, for supporting a handle, spout, &c. The article is placed on a rotatable table a which may be locked in the required angular position on a slide b. The member g is carried by a slide d, yieldingly connected through springs e<1> to a second slide d<1> which is positively actuated by a lever i and pinion and rack gear h<1>, h. The member g may be automatically or manually rotated to bring the required component into alignment with the work on the table a.
