Abstract
355,124. Pots for growing plants. MARSHALL, F., Roseville, Sterling Road, Burley-in- Wharfedale, Yorkshire. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33216. [Class 6 (ii).] A container for the roots of a growing plant consists of a skeleton or reticulated framework made in two parts hinged together and adapted to enclose the roots so as not to interfere with their growth and to serve as a means for lifting the plant and the soil about its roots in transplanting operations. The container shown comprises top, bottom, and intermediate wire rings 1, 3, 2 interconnected by longitudinal wires 4, the bottom ring being crossed by wire members 5. The rings 1, 2, 3 are made in halves with loops 6, 7, 8 at the ends. The loops 8 of the bottom ring are connected together to form hinges and removable longitudinal wires 9 are passed through the loops 6, 7 to hold the two parts of the container together. The two separable halves of the container may be hinged at the side instead of the bottom. A modified container is made of reticulated metal mounted on a wire foundation or strengthened by wire rings or hoops. Handles may be provided to facilitate lifting and carrying.
