Abstract

Tea and coffee preparations have the noxious taste and smell removed by intimately mixing in the dry state with activated carbon or silicic acid and adding boiling water. A small quantity of boiling water is added first, and the brew subsequently diluted with more boiling water to bring it to drinkable strength. The activated carbon or silicic acid may be charged with substances soluble in water, such as glycerine, sugar or other carbohydrates.
