Abstract

352,640. Nonconducting coverings for heat. KREWS, E., 4, Hathaway Road, and FRANKLIN, H. W., 12, Clarence Road, both in Grays, Essex. May 19, 1930, No. 15329. [Class 64 (ii).] In heat insulating lagging for pipe lines in which an outer shell 13, Fig. 1, is separated from the pipe 11 and is formed with openings 15 for the insertion of powdered insulating material, the outer shell is held in place by bands 30 of arcuate cross section, each of which is provided with a tongue 32, Fig. 4, and one or more apertures 36, 37 through which the tongue is adapted to pass. Thin annular rings 12 serve as spacing members between the pipe and outer casing and adjacent ends of the casing sections are beaded as at 48 so as to prevent longitudinal displacement. For lagging pipe bends the outer casing is made up of sector-shaped portions of tubing.
