Abstract
Organic substances capable of forming hard films are incorporated with viscous to solid polymerization products of alkylene oxides. As film-forming substances are specified cellulose derivatives, natural or artificial resins including condensation products of vinyl compounds, or solutions thereof. The polymerization products are obtained for example as described in Specification 346,550, [Group IV], and contain at least 5 polymerized molecules. A covering lacquer consists of collodion cotton dissolved in a mixture of acetone, butyl acetate, butanol, benzene and toluene, to which dammar resin, a dyestuff paste, and ethylene oxide polymerization product are added. Other examples describe the use of the polymerization products as softeners for collodion cotton, benzyl cellulose, nitro-cellulose, vinylacetate, urea formaldehyde, glycerol phthalic anhydride, and phenol formaldehyde condensation products and Manilla copal. The products are used as coating compositions, lacquers, plastic moulding compositions, and priming compositions.ALSO:Organic substances capable of forming films are incorporated with viscous to solid polymerization products of alkylene oxides.
