Abstract

351,636. Gathering glass. UNITED GLASS BOTTLE MANUFACTURERS, Ltd., MOORSHEAD, T. C., and HURLBUT, F. A., 40, Norfolk Street, Strand, London. April 22, 1930, No. 12429. [Class 56.] A glass-gathering furnace comprises a rotary annular trough 1 above which are a number of independently-controlled open-bottomed heating chambers 9 forming a cover for the trough. The heating chambers extend round about half the circumference of the trough, and one of them is made higher than the others to accommodate a feed spout 33 for molten glass, while a part of the trough is left open for the gathering machine. The blocks 18, on which the heating chambers are formed, can be vertically adjusted in pairs by a hand-wheel 29 and screws 26.
