Abstract

350,936. Distributers for insecticides &c. WEEKS & SON, Ltd., W., Perseverance Iron Works, and PEARCH, L. C., 96, Salisbury Road, both in Maidstone, Kent. March 14, 1930, No. 8228. [Class 6 (i).] Apparatus for distributing insecticide or fungicide powder on crops, trees, &c., comprises a fan having a casing adapted to be turned about its axis for directing the outlet at various angles without disturbing the driving-mechanism. The powder falls from a hopper d through shoot to the intake of the fan c and passes through the fan to the outlet f. The lower part of the shoot may be open so that air may be drawn through it into the fan. The hopper d is cylindrical and is provided with a rotary agitator moving over the perforated flat bottom. The effective size of the apertures in the bottom may be regulated by partially rotating a correspondingly perforated disc m by means of a lever n. The agitator comprises brushes or pads o revolving round a central vertical shaft. The fan casing is provided with projecting rings to enable it to be carried by bearing plates e. It is held in adjusted position by a pin or bolt r passing through the rings and the plates e. The apparatus may be mounted on wheels or skids, or in a lorry, or may be provided with carrying handles. The fan and agitator may be driven from the wheels a, from an engine i, or by manual power. According to the Provisional Specification the powder in the shoot may be agitated by blades on an extension of the fan spindle.
