[Class 83 (i).] Moulds.-A water-jacketed mould for centrifugal or other casting has the water-guiding strips b, Fig. 5, shaped to make line or point contact with the inner mould wall a. The strips b may be integral with the outer wall c and have a sharpened edge p which may be cut away as shown at e, Figs. 2 or 3. Spiral bodies, such as that shown in Fig. 4, may be inserted in cooling passages to induce a corresponding motion in the stream of water. Mould materials.-The inner wall a may comprise a seamless copper pipe jointed to the outer member by a rubber ring h and pressure flanges k, k<1> so as to be easily replaceable.
