Abstract

349,759. Moving dioramas. LARCHER, G., 106, Rue Lafayette, Paris. May 13, 1930, No. 14759. Convention date, May 13, 1929. [Class 132 (i).] An electrically operated moving diorama is characterized by the successive presentation of a plurality of scenes, of which the change is effected behind one or more curtains adapted to be lowered for this purpose, the flooring of the stage being formed by endless straps which pass over rollers and to which figures are secured, such straps being moved when the curtain is lowered. The scenes are illuminated by coloured lights of varying intensity. All components are readily interchangeable. As shown in Fig. 6, six endless chains 26 carry figures across the stage while two other chains carry figures through the auditorium. A crank 42 on the wheel 39 actuated by the electric motor 12 intermittently rotates axles 47, 48 owing to connection with the cranks 45, 46. Axles 47, 48 actuate the feed claws 53 engaging in hooks 55 on the moving platforms. Rods 52a similarly move the back-cloths, also carried on endless chains. The loaded curtains unroll and raise the large arm of the lever 63, Fig. 4, when the cams 61 on the shaft 40 of the wheel 39 present a hollow portion to the rollers on the small end of lever 63. The lights are regulated by the rotating commutator 69, secured at one end to the ratchet 71 operated by the pawl 72 secured to a crank 73 mounted on the shaft 48. Longitudinal divisions of the commu. tator are each connected to a different group of lamps. A rheostat 79 permits of continuous variation of the intensity. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the associated and synchronous working of phonographs. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
