Abstract

349,603. Motor forecarriages; steering arrangements. DOUGLAS MOTORS, Ltd., Hanham Road, and DOUGLAS, J., Woodstock, both in Kingswood, Bristol. Feb. 27, 1930, No. 6508. [Classes 79 (iii) and 79 (v).] A motor truck having a fixed driver's platform disposed at one end forwardly of the engine and load carrying platform, such as described in Specifications 322,693, [Class 79 (iii), Motor vehicles, Arrangement &c. of parts of], and 342,666, is provided with seats both in front and in rear of the steering gear to enable the driver to take up alternative positions facing opposite ways for forward and reverse driving. The " reverse seat 4 is of substantially the same height as the " forward " seat 2 and may be mounted upon a bent iron bar 5 supported from the platform 6 at a point adjacent to the foot controls 7. The Provisional Specification describes also an arrangement wherein the platform is extended to enable the driver to take up a standing position for reverse driving.
