348,699. Grinding. BSTEH, R., 26, Halbgasse, Vienna. Feb. 18, 1930, No. 5387. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1929. [Class 60.] Round holes, enlarging and trueing; spindle mountings.-A machine for grinding and polishing holes in wire drawing dies, small nozzles for spinning machinery or for insulating wires, and in other tools &c. 60 consists of a copper &c. wire w supplied with abrasive and reciprocated through the rotating work by a frame 5 .. 8 slidable on pillars 2, 3 carried by a gear casing 1. The frame members 7, 8 carry, by means of pins 10a, 11a, holders 10, 11 to which the wire is clamped adjustably by plates 17, 18 and screws 19, and the frame is reciprocated by a shaft 20, screwed into the holder 10 and moved by a cam 30 in the casing 1. The shaft 20 carries a wheel 44 having teeth 46 thereon engaged by a tooth 48 carried by a lever 47, so that at each upward movement of the frame the shaft 20 is partially rotated to feed the frame downwards : a lever 52 has a hook-shaped end 52b which may be moved to engage the upper end of the shaft 20, whereby the stroke of the frame is reduced by the thickness of the lever. The work 60 is mounted in a head 61 provided with a cap 77 to secure the work and running on ball bearings 64, 65 in a member 69 which is carried by a pin 72a, so as to be adjustable angularly, in a plate 73 adapted to be clamped to the pillars 2, 3 ; the head is driven by a pulley 62.
