Abstract

Thiazoleanthrone derivatives.-A 1.9 - thiazoleanthrone corresponding to the formula: <FORM:0346373/IV/1> in which R stands for hydrogen or halogen, R1 and R11 for halogen, or R1 and R11 together represen an oxygen atom, or a substitution product thereof, is condensed with an aromatic o-aminohydroxy, o-aminomercaptan, or o-diamine compound whereby products containing also an oxazole, thiazole or iminazole ring in addition to the 1,9-thiazole ring are obtained. The products may be halogenated or nitrated, and the latter bodies reduced to the amino derivatives which may be acylated or condensed with negatively substituted amino compounds. In examples 1,9-thiazoleanthrone-2-carboxylic acid chloride is condensed with (1) 2-amino-3-hydroxyanthraquinone; the product dyes lemon yellow shades; (2) o-phenylenediamine whereby a product is obtained dyeing yellow shades, and similar dyestuffs are obtained if 1,2- or 2,3-diaminoanthraquinone replaces o - phenylenediamine. 1,9-Thiazoleanthrone-2-carboxylic acid is obtained by the action of sodium sulphide and ammonia or 1-chloranthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid. The corresponding w-dihalogenmethyl compound may be prepared by acting on 2-methyl-1,9-thiazoleanthrone with halogen, for example by acting on the said anthrone with bromine in trichlorbenzene. 1-9-thiazoleanthrone-2-aldehyde is obtained by mild oxidation of the 2-methyl derivative, for example by boiling it with soda in nitrobenzene.
