Abstract
345,044. Electric incandescent lamps ; fusible cut-outs. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13A, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Feb. 11, 1930, No. 4612. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1929. [Class 39 (ii).] A gas-filled lamp having a filament in the form of a coiled helix contains a fusible cut-out, which is mounted in the bulb or stem and prevents bursting of the lamp or the fusing of the cutout in the supply system upon the occurrence of an arc discharge. A cut-out 5, mounted in the lamp stem, consists of a silver wire wrapped with insulating paper, the ends being attached to metal bands connected respectively to a lamp contact and to a leading-in wire. Insulating paper is disposed between the bands. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the cut-out is mounted within the bulb. A silver wire of 45 microns may be used in a 75 watt--220 volt lamp. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the lamp may have a filament in the form of a multiple helically wound helix. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 230,461, [Class 39 (ii), Electric lamps, Incandescent].
