Abstract

The cement interior surfaces of walls of refrigerating chambers or cold stores are rendered non-porous and smooth by applying thereto a solution of shellac in alcohol or methylated spirit, allowing the solution to remain for a period to penetrate the cement, removing any excess by means of spirit, and then rubbing down with abrasive material. The surface is then treated with a wax or shellac solution and polished.
