Abstract

339,777. Stapp, P. Dec. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Storing under presure.-Liquid carbon dioxide is stored under low pressure .and near triple point temperature in a tank 6. The gas is compressed by a compressor 3 cooled by a condenser 4 at a pressure of about 65 atm. and expanded through a throttle valve 5 into the tank at a pressure of 4-5 atm. the temperature falling from 15‹ C. to -57‹. The gas is supplied to the compressor by pipes 1, 2 from two different sources, and when this supply ceases the compressor draws through pipe 7 from the tank. A conduit 8 supplies the liquefied gas to ice-making apparatus.
