Abstract
337,537. Ramsden, B. Sept. 26, 1929. Balls, cleaning. - In a ball-washing machine of the kind described in Specification 12918/89, the two ball - enclosing discs A, B are connected by a central stud 1 secured to the lower disc A by a nut 4 and perforated flange 11, and the stud has a shoulder 12 against which a flanged cylindrical nut 2, rotatable in a recess in the upper disc may abut, the cylindrical nut being retained by a friction plate 3 capable of rotation around the nut. The handle 6 for rotating the upper disc B is driven tightly on to a bush 63 pressed upon a stud 61 secured by a plate 64 to the disc. The upper end of the bush 63 is pressed in beneath a a shoulder 62. In using the machine, after the balls have been placed in the annular groove in the disc A, the upper disc B is placed over the stud 1 and is rotated by means of the handle 6. The nut 2 is caused by friction to move down the screwed end of the stud until arrested by the shoulder 12 thus putting the required maximum pressure on the balls, and maintaining the pressure during the continued rotation. On reversing the rotation the nut unscrews and disengages the two discs.
