Operating and controlling doors electrically. - A revolving door comprises a platform 8, Fig. 1, and top cover 7 carried by a vertical shaft 4, the doors being pivoted at 9 to the cover and platform and positioned by ball catches 24. The door is positively driven by an electric motor 1 through a worm 2 and gear-wheel 3 attached to the shaft 4. The motor is controlled by switches 10, one on each door leaf, wired in common to plugged insulated spring-controlled grips 11 and to contact rings 13, insulated from the shaft 4, carbon brushes, which make contact with the rings, being fitted to insulated spring supports leading to terminals 14, 15. The grips 11 are fitted between each pair of door leaves, and comprise hollow rods 19, Fig. 3, sliding in a tube 21 and bearing contacts 23, each rod being detachably hinged to its respective leaf by a fitting 17, 18. The contacts 23 are wired through the rods 19 to the switches 10. In the event of an obstruction, a door leaf is moved off its ball catch 24 and a pair of contacts 23 are separated, thereby stopping the motor. Instead of hand switches 10, switches in each division of the platform, operated by the user standing thereon, may be provided.
