Abstract

334,181. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. April 27, 1929. Addition to 226,731 and 252,019. Motor spirit consists of gasolene or like hydrocarbon, more than 0.2 gram per gallon of iron carbonyl, and an aromatic amine containing at least 1 alkyl radical. Halogen compounds or organic compounds of metals or metal-like elements of the kind increasing the critical compression ratio may be added. The amines may be primary, secondary, or tertiary; up to 15 per cent by volume of toluidine, mono-methyl- or mono-ethyl-aniline, or N-methyl xylidine is specified. Halogen &c. compounds specified are: fluorides, chlorides, bromides, iodides, e.g. ethylene chloride, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, chlorbenzene, hexachlorbenzene, chlor-naphthalene, the corresponding ' bromine and iodine compounds, ammonium halides and their organic derivatives, e.g. methyl ammonium chloride, boric acid methyl or ethyl ester, silicic acid ethyl ester, tetraethyl silicon, tricresyl phosphate, tetra-ethyl lead, zinc oleate, zinc iso-valerate, glucinum propionate, aluminium palmitate, compounds of aceto-acetic ester with aluminium, magnesium, or iron, and calcium naphthenate. In examples, 1000 litres of 0.750 gasolene is doped with 1.0 litre of iron carbonyl and 10 litres of mono-m ethyl aniline with or without 0.1 litre of chlornaphthalene, or 2 litres of carbonyl and 20 litres of toluidine with or without 2 litres of boric acid methyl ester.
