Abstract
331,845. Triggs, W. W., (American Hair if Felt Co.). April 4, 1929., Disinfecting-chambers. - Apparatus in which hair, feathers, and the like are treated with a gaseous agent, for example, deodorized by treatment with ozone, comprises a chamber 1 into which the material is delivered by a pneumatic conveyer 12 so as to pass through a current of ozone or other gas entering through an opening 26<1>. A belt conveyer 27 provided with spikes 29 passes over the floor 3 of the chamber 1, removing part of the material which has been subjected to the action of the gas through an opening 8, and assisting the remainder to circulate. On entering the chamber 1 from the conveyer 12 the material first strikes a baffle plate 14 which serves to protect a screened opening 15 in the opposite wall of the chamber and to deflect the material into the path of the entering gas. In the form shown the treating gas is ozonised air the air being drawn by means of a fan 20 through a pipe 24 and ozonizer 16 to the opening 26<1>. The treated material falls into a hopper 35. Specification 333,197 is referred to.
