Moderating superheat.-Water to be brought into direct contact with steam to be desuperheated is preheated by indirect contact with the steam either on its way to the desuperheater or after it leaves it. The temperature of the water is raised to that, at which it is capable of absorbing latent heat for conversion into steam.
