Moulding heel seats prior to heeling. - Relates to the shaping of the heel ends of shoes by moulding pressure, to afford a good seat for wooden or like heels, and especially to modifications in the machine described in the parent Specification. Interchangeable plates, adapted to support the heel ends of the shoes, are provided, so that shoes can be operated on off their lasts. Means are also provided for positioning the heel end of a shoe on the support, and clamping the heel end against the support. The apparatus shown in the drawing is substituted for the lastsupporting means described in the prior Specification. The base member 334 is toothed, slotted, and formed with an upper lateral guideway as described in the prior Specification, but the block 329 slidable in the guide-way is adapted to support one, 341, of a number of plates interchangeable for size of shoe. Each plate carries a positioning post 343 and a pin 345, the post being retained in a socket in the block by a spring catch releasable by a spring plunger 347. The member 334 carries a bracket 351 to which is pivoted a member 361 provided with a handle 363, to which member is pivoted a shoe positioning and clamping finger 377, also provided with a handle 379. A spring 381 and adjustable stop 383 determine the operative position of the finger 377. The member 361 is held in operative position by a spring-pressed ball 365 engaging a recess in the bracket. The handle 363 facilitates the longitudinal tipping adjustment of the work support described in the prior Specification, and is used to move the finger 377 to out-of-the-way position by movement about the pivot 353. If a shoe on a last is to be operated on, the block 329 is removed and substituted by a block provided with a last pin.
