Abstract
330,755. Wistoft, S. May 30, 1929. Coin a c t i o n weight and multiple coin; testing coins for size.-In a vending machine operable on the insertion of two coins of the same or different values in two pockets of determined size the bottoms of both pockets are closed bv one arm of a pivoted lever which is, released if both coins are of the correct size so as to allow both coins to be led away simultaneously to the release mechanism of the machine. Fig. 1 shows one form of the mechanism wherein the, coins passing down coin channels 1, 2 if of the correct size operate latch levers 5 and overbalance a pivoted lever 10 so as to permit their passage to the machine release mechanism. Figs. 4 and 5 show another form in which the coins passing down the channels 1, 2 operate pivoted arms 23 thereby moving by pin-and-slot connections 24, 25 latch levers 18 to release the lever 10 and allow its depression by the coins. Fig. 7 shows another form in which the coins operate bell-crank levers 34 to move the latch levers 18 to release the lever 10. Diverting improper coins. - The initial idle movement of the opening member of the machine operates a pivoted arm 28, Figs. 4 and 5, or 38, Fig. 7, so as to divert improper coins resting on the lever 10 to a rejection shoot 48. The arm 28 is formed with bent arms 31 and the arm 38 with spring fingers 47 adapted to sweep across the space between the lower ends of the coin channels and the lever 10. The lever 10 carries an adjustable stop 46 which after the passage of two coins to the acceptance shoot 49 is engaged by the arm 38 when the opening member of the machine is operated, the return of the lever to its normal position being thereby ensured.
