Abstract

Animals, stocks and like appliances for holding; electric killing - appliances.- Apparatus for holding and stunning animals comprises an inclined shoot 4 leading to a cage 13 having approximately the shape of the animals body and terminating in a hood 14, which mav be furnished with electric contacts such as rollers, balls, sliding contacts, or spikes on springs, or which may itself constitute an electrode and which is preferably perforated to receive the animals snout. The animals descent from a platform 1 into the shoot 4 is accelerated by a ramp 5. The floor 7 of the cage is hinged at its elevated end and can be swung down by means of the lever 10 to drop the stunned animal into a truck or like below the cage. Means other than electric current may be used for stunning the animal.
