The ends of a bar y which spans the tail-pieces t are bent round and keyed to the shaft s. An arm d, keyed to the shaft s, is connected to the actuating rod r. When the rod r is moved to the right, the bar y depresses the tail-pieces t and raises the prongs p to permit the flow of material. When the rod is moved in the opposite direction, the prongs, under the influence of gravity or springs, independently enter the material.
