Pottery, manufacture of.-Complicated ceramic articles such as closets, which are moulded and fired in one piece, are supported in the kiln so that the movement of the parts on shrinkage is facilitated, thereby avoiding strain in the finished article. Fig. 1 shows a closet in which the bowl, tank and trap are all in one piece. The bowl is supported on the rocking member F and the wall c of the trap on the inclined rockable stilt H. The flange J is stated to limit the shrinkage of the outer wall A in comparison with that of the inner wall and the tank, and thus can be set so that the maximum allowable shrinkage of the tank portion is not exceeded.
