Monogrammic signals.-The display of each digit of a totalizator total is effected bv means of fixed digital representations made visible in the display space under the selective control of the counting mechanism, the display space being capable of accommodating one digit only at a time. In the form shown in Fig. 2, each display space, B or C, contains a screen F for receiving the projected image of stencilled figures contained in banks of lamps E. The lamps are wired, through a plug-and-socket device G, with a switch H the arm H' of which is rotated by the totalling-mechanism. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, a sign of the monogrammic type is utilized and the groups of lamps to be illuminated are controlled by the switch through relays L<4>. In other modifications the monogrammic lamps are replaced by coloured plates or screens moved by solenoids to render the digit visible as in Fig. 9. Thus in Fig. 10, plates N pivoted at 0 are rocked to occupy a vertical or horizontal position and in Fig. 13 white arcuate screens may be moved to obscure black panels S. In Fig. 14 the display space is occupied by drums with halves of their peripheries contrastingly coloured and connected by cords T' with the cores of their operating solenoids. Means may bei provided to interrupt the rotation of the control switch periodically to enable the figures displayed to persist. According to the third Provisional Specification the drums or alternatively flexible bands may be geared together in groups and be actuated by a motor controlled through a hunting-gear.
