Electric lamp lanterns; mounting electric lamps in lanterns.-In lamp projection apparatus in which the direction of he beam may be varied and suitable for cinema studio lighting, flood lighting, &c., the hood 1 carying a reflector 14 is 'tiltably mounted on a stand, and the lamp is slidably mounted within and supported from the hood so that it is always maintained upright. The loop 3 supporting the lamp 2 is carried by hollow trunnions 25 passing through and rotating in brackets 12. The vertical position of lamp and loop is maintained by a vertical rod 16 fixed to a trunnion 25 and movable only in a vertical direction through the sleeve 17 or with the sleeve which can move only in a horizontal direction on a rail 19. Side rails 5 moving on brackets 6, the trunnions 7 of which journal in parts 4 of the stand, give axial adjustment of the hood to obtain balance after tilting. The brackets 12 are axially movable on rails 13 within the hood by means of threaded bottom rails, enabling focussing after tilting and balancing. Fine adjustment of angle of tilt and locking are obtained by a worm and worm wheel brought into engagement by an eccentric 10. Cooling air enters the hood through one hollow trunnion 25 and pipe 22, and through baffled openings 24.
