Abstract

Heating vehicle.-A jacket 2 surrounds the exhaust pipe 4 or the silencer 5, and is open at one end 6 for the admission of air and closed at the other end, and means are provided whereby its internal diameter may be adjusted. The longitudinal edges of the jacket 2 may be connected by means of a lap joint or a butt joint, bolts 23 being provided in connection with elongated holes 30 in the jacket. At the open end, spacing bolts 9 as shown in Fig. 1, or wires 11 threaded through holes 10 in the jacket as shown in Fig. 3, may be provided for centering the jacket in position. The closed end of the jacket may be constituted by a number of narrow tongues 25 which are formed in the jacket and are held against the outer wall of the exhaust pipe 4 or silencer 5 by means of clips or wires 26. A rigid tube 13 or flexible tube 14 extends from the upper part of the jacket to the interior of the vehicle and is fitted with a cover 19 or valve 20. The jacket may have an inner asbestos lining 3. If desired, a jacket may be arranged as shown on both the exhaust tube and the silencer.
