Abstract

324,313. Osborne, F. E. July 21, 1928. Facing-slabs; ornamenting slabs.-Ornamental plaques or the like produced by preparing a foundation of plaster or other porous cementitious material, impregnating one surface with a porefilling material, such as boiled linseed oil, applying to this surface a ground coating of impervious material, such as lead paint, then applying to the ground coating a design in pigments or other colouring matter, and finally coating with cellulose or other waterproofing varnish. The foundation may be built up of successive layers of plaster, strips of jute canvas, and wooden laths. The treated surface mav be moulded in bas-relief. Gold, silver, or other metal foil or paint may be applied to the ground coating before the coloured design is applied.
