Coin action, mechanical-connection and multiple-coin-A bar 1, Fig. 1, connected by a rod 5 to the mechanism it is desired to operate, slides in a housing 2 and is normally locked by a pair of catches 10, 11, Fig. 5, pivoted to a block 12 and controlled by a spring 13 so that teeth 8, 9 on the catches projecting through a slot in the housing engage a notch 6 on the bar. Two coins, which may be of unequal sizes, say a shilling and a sixpence, drop through shoots 16, 17 to guide-ways 14, 15, Fig. 3, formed by the housing and cheek-plates 42 42'. When the bar 1 is pushed in, pins 20, 20<1> thereon push the coins along the guide ways, the coins engaging cams 18, 19 on the catches to lift these and disengage them from the notch 6. A full stroke of the bar in each direction is ensured by a spring-controlled pawl engaging a rack 50. Exhibiting coins. - The coins drop through apertures in the guideways and pass by shoots 24, 26, Fig. 1, to inspection chambers 28 provided with a glass front 30 and a pivoted bottom plate 31. The bottom is opened, at the next operation of the machine, to allow the coins to drop to a sealed money box by the pin 20 on the bar 1 tripping a lever 40 which has an arm 39 to engage an arm 38 and move the bottom 31 about a pivot 35 against the action of a spring 36. Testing coins; returning coins. - The cheekplate 42<1> forming part of the shilling guideway has an aperture that allows coins smaller than a shilling to drop out. Such small coins are returned through a shoot 46.
