Abstract
322,280. Blanchard, W. J. Oct. 9, 1928. Tube plates.-In heat exchange apparatus of the calandria type, the holes in the upper tube sheet are countersunk until the countersinks meet or nearly meet, thereby forming surfaces sloping towards each hole such that sediment cannot lodge thereon. The tube plate may be made thicker than normally to accommodate the countersinks. Fig. 6 shows the invention as applied to a tube plate in which each tube is equidistant from its adjacent tubes. When the countersinks do not quite meet, the projections 21 may be rounded off.
