Abstract

321,596. Avery, Ltd., W. & T., and Sykes, C. M. Dec. 29, 1928. Platform machines; relieving and locking mechanism.-A wheeled portable weighing apparatus is provided with a pivoted foot or feet capable of being moved into contact with the ground or other supporting surface for the purpose of lifting a supporting wheel or wheels off the ground when it is desired to bring the weighing apparatus into the weighing position whereby the apparatus is locked against undesirable movement during a weighing operation. The movement of the footoperating mechanism simultaneously locks or unlocks the indicating mechanism. In the weighing position shown in the Figure, the swivel wheels 3 are raised from the ground and the rear end of the machine is supported by two feet 9 projecting from an axle 7. By freeing a pedal catch 10 the axle may be rotated by handles 8 so as to displace the feet 9 and allow the rear of the machine to descend until the swivel wheels 3 rest upon the ground. The rotation of the axle 7 simultaneously draws down a rod 12 and locks the automatic indicating mechanism by means of known mechanism.
