Abstract

Shades, silk, paper, and like.-In a lampshade in which paper, parchment, celluleid, textile fabric, or other material is stretched and supported upon a wire or other framework made in sections which are hinged or connected together so as to enable the shade to be folded up or collapsed into a flat condition, the sectional frames are hinged together by lacing or tying them with tape which is laced through marginal holes in the material so as to secure the latter to the frames. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a lampshade comprises four trapezium-shaped side frames 1 which are hinged together by coloured tape 4 laced through holes 5 in the material 2, which may be ornamented. The lacing may be continued along the top and bottom edges of the frames, which edges are preferably first covered by lapping them round with coloured tape of a different colour to the lacing tape. The frame may be held erect by a square top frame 6 carrying a ring 7 to receive a lamp holder. The frame 6 is hinged to one of the side frames 1 and at the other side is provided with a pair of lugs 8 adapted to embrace loops 9 on the opposite side frame.
