Abstract

320,084. Ferguson, H. July 3, 1928. Couplings.-Means for attaching an agricultural implement to a tractor is so constructed and arranged that the line of draught on the soil-engaging part of the implement acts as from a point other than the actual point of connection, and when the tractor is turned the implement will swing laterally relative to the tractor about a point other than the action point of connection between it and the tractor. A plough frame 7 is connected to a tractor 1 by two spaced convergent links 4, 5 ball-jointed to the tractor and, to the cranked ends of a transverse shaft 8 journaled in two upstanding triangular members 7a on the frame 7. The frame 7 and tractor 1 are also connected together by a separate universally jointed link 6 located out of the plane of the links 4, 5. The end cranks 4b, 5b on the transverse shaft 8 are set at different angles to the axis so that the angle between the plough and the tractor may be adjusted by turning the shaft 8 by means of a lever 9. There may be several ball-shaped projections 4a, 5a at the rear of the tractor to allow of the distance apart of the front ends of the links 4, 5 being varied. The crank shaft 8 may be mounted on the tractor, or may be dispensed with. In the latter case the links 4, 5 would be adjustable in length. Stops may be provided to prevent excessive lateral swinging of the implement. Specification 160,248 is referred to.
