Abstract

318,214. Robinson, J. Aug. 31, 1928, [Convention date]. Vaporizing by heat; capsules.- Relates to apparatus for electrically vaporizing substances for inhalation treatment and comprises a removable receptacle for the substance and means for holding the receptacle upon a heating element, a perforated hood being seated over the receptacle. The receptacle may be in the form of a perforated non-refillable capsule containing a sufficient quantity for one application. The capsule may be intwo parts assembled by a force fit; this form being shown in Fig. 2. The holder 1 contains a switch 8 and receives the heating element 3 as by a bayonet point 10. A holding ring 15 surrounds the element and has a curved flange 15<1> that deflects and warms air entering through ducts 22 and causes it to mix with the vapour from the capsule. The hood 23 with an inhalation port 21 may have a shouldered seating at 20 but a screwed or bayonet joint may be employed. In a modification a nozzle 19<a>, Fig. 7, and receptacle retainer 15 fits over a heating element formed for direct application to an ordinary lamp socket. In a further modification the parts are applied directly to an electric lamp bulb.
