Abstract

317,336. Vßg¾, P. V., and Magyar, V. March 14, 1928. Refrigerating, absorption machines for. -In a machine without pumps, an accumulator tank 13 arranged between the absorber 7 and the generator 1 is sup plied with strong liquor through a float valve 14 when the pressure in the absorber is temporarily equalized with that of the generator by the emptying of the pipe 8 conveying weak liquor to the absorber. The tank 13 is maintained at the pressure of the generator by a connecting pipe 15. The liquor may flow unobstructed from the tank 13 into the generator, but preferably a second valve 19 closes the outflow of the tank when the valve 14 is open. A further float valve 24 may regulate the flow into the generator when the valve 14 is closed and the valve 19 opened during a working period. The generated vapour, e.g. ammonia, passes through a pipe 4 to the condenser 5, and the liquefied refrigerant passes through a restriction 11 to the evaporator 6. The weak liquor is driven through the riser pipe 8 and through a nozzle 9 into the absorber, which is cooled by a water packet 10. When the tank 13 fills with strong solution, the float 16 closes the valve 14 and opens the valve 19. The float 23 in the generator is preferably funnel shaped and has a depending pipe 25 to direct strong liquor to the bottom of the generator. The cool strong liquor may exchange heat in a device 20 in the generator with the outflowing gas, which is thereby deprived of solution vapour, and a branch pipe 22 may be provided between the bottom of the generator and a liquid trap 26 in the vapour expulsion pipe 4, to facilitate liquid circulation at starting. The pipe 8 may open into an annular space formed by a weir 27 in the generator, and may pass through the interchanger 20 and through the water jacket of the absorber. The float 16 may be located in a depending sealing wall 17 in the tank 13, so as to close the valve 14 quickly, and a heat-insulated annular float 18 may be provided in the tank 13 to prevent condensation of vapour on the liquor when starting.
