313,022. Elwell, C. F., and De Forest Phonofilms, Ltd. March 1, 1928. Systems for transmitting music; loudspeakers.-Sound from an orchestra is produced by a number of loud-speakers, each simulating bot in location and form a particular section of the orchestra. In one system, for example, three microphones connected to a common amplifier are arranged to receive sound mainly from the string, wind, and bass instruments, respectively. The output from the amplifier is divided into three parallel circuits, one including a high-pass filter and a loud-speaker with a vio in-like case, one including a band-pass filter designed to pass the middle frequencies and a loud-speaker with a horn in the shape of a saxophcne or other wind instrument, and one including a low-pass filter and a loud-speaker in a casing simulating a bass viol. The three loudspeakers are arranged in positions corresponding to the relative locations of the string, wind and bass instruments in the original orchestra. In another system, separate circuits which may contain filters connect the microphones to the respective loud-speakers.
