Boards and like elements, travelling. - In a sign of the type comprising a number of independent display panels in a magazine which can be moved by a handle to bring a selected panel to a position where it can be withdrawn by another handle for inspection, the magazine is fitted with guiding and locking members and is positively actuated, and positive means are provided both for removing and returning each panel from and to the magazine. Figs. 1 and 2 show a magazine 2 which can be rotated by a handle 5 to a position given by a pointer 5<a> which will bring a selected panel 6 under a viewing casing 21. A handle 11 is moved through an arc tc rotate a shalt 14 and raise a bush 17 through sliding connection 15, 15a. The bush 17 is guided by a rod 18 and carries a member 20 which engages notches 6<a> in the panels 6, thus positively lifting the panels and positively returning them to the magazine. The rim 7d of the magazine is provided with oppositely arranged notches 7<w>, 7<c>. The inner notches 7<c> hold the, panels 6, and the outer notches 7<w> are engaged by a rib 19<a> on the bush 17 while a panel is in part or wholly removed from the magazine, thus locking the magazine against rotation till the panel is replaced. Guides 22, 22<a> protect the panel in its passage to and from the casing 21. Hoops 23, 23<a> protect the panels falling out of the magazine, notches 23<b>, 23<c> being provided in the hoops to allow of withdrawal of the panels respectively for display and for removal. A modified form is described in which the magazine is reciprocated by rack and pinion mechanism.
