Abstract

311,569. Crawford, W. H. May 31, 1928. Dispensing liquids. - Means for selectively dispensing liquids, especially oils in cold weather, comprises transparent liquid containers mounted above a battery of pumps, the pumps being geared for selective operation from a single motor. Electric heating coils are arranged in two groups, thermostatically controlled, so that the pump housing and the oil containers may be heated to different temperatures. In the embodiment, transparent oil containers 13, 14, 15 are mounted in annular channels 16 on the top 17 of a lower structure. Heating coils 76 are embedded in filling material 19 between the top 17 and a wall 18. For drawing off the oils, tubes 20, 21 are connected to the containers 13, 15, the container 14 having front and back connections. A wall 26 closes the containers at the top and is formed with annular channels for packing 27. Apertures 28 allow communication between the containers and a space 29 formed between a closing cap 25 and the wall 26. A thermostat 30 is fitted in the space 29 to control the heating coils 76 for the containers. A thermostat 31 controls the coils 75 for heating the pump housing 10. Pumps 35, 36, 37 are mounted below the containers, and are driven through gearing from a motor, clutch elements, such as the clutch 47, 48, being fitted in each pump drive so that the pumps may be selectively operated. The pumps are fed from underground tanks by pipes 84, 85, 86, and overflow pipes 87, 88, 89 are fitted to the containers.
