Abstract
309,232. Enclosed Motor Co., Ltd., and Mossay, P. A. H. Oct. 15, 1928. Dynamos and motors, cooling; armatures and field magnets, cooling.-In a totally-enclosed dynamo electric machine having a cooling system as described in Specifications 110,269, 120,241, and 292,634, the hot and cold air ducts are arranged in alternative or overlapping relationship within a substantially square or flat sided body member and the ducts of one of the series are disposed at the corners of the body member. In Fig. 3, which shows a transverse vertical section of a quarter of a machine, a are the hot air ducts situated at the corners of a substantially square body casting and the cold air ducts b are arranged to overlap the ducts a. As described in Specification 292,634, the cold air ducts are formed with apertures communicating with chambers c<3> whereby the cold air is caused to make direct contact with the periphery of the stator laminae c. Fig. 6 shows another construction in which the cold air ducts b are arranged in a circle and the hot air ducts a are located at the corners of a square enclosing the circle. As in the first described example, the ducts b are in communication with chambers to permit cold air to sweep over the stator laminae, and hot air is circulated between the machine interior and the ducts a by radial ports f at each end formed in the portions f<1> of the casting passing radially through the cold air ducts.
