Equalizing load on wheels and springs; springs, arrangement of. - In driving axle suspensions each axle unit comprises two pairs of superposed leaf springs centrally secured to the upper and lower wall, respectively of the differential casing to which the frame is pivoted, said walls being provided with lateral arms having deep grooves for guiding the springs in their normal movement and protecting them against torque stresses under the action of shocks and in the case of two or more axle units the differential gears are connected by a transmission shaft on which the change speed gear and speed reducing gear may be inserted. As shown in Figs. 1<a> and 3 a bracket 2 is provided with trunnions 3, 4 for the gear box 5 from which are driven the independent shafts 10. The drive shaft 6 drives the gear by means of a bevel, worm or other means. The transverse springs 13 are supported on the gear box and are guided by means of arms 15 which in conjunction with the buffers 16 limit the transverse rotation of the axle unit. Figs. 4 and 6 show an arrangement of two driving axle units the transmitting shaft 17 being coupled to the gear boxes by universal joints 18, 19. Fig. 11 shows an arrangement employing three driving axle units 28, 29 the power being transferred from a change gear box 26. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the invention applied to an existing motor vehicle in which the bracket 18, Figs. 7 (Cancelled) and 9 (Cancelled) carrying the differential box and axle 19 is secured to the existing springs. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
