Abstract

309,045. Kamp, G. April 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Smoke and fumes, washing.-Dust is separated from hot furnace gases in a flue by means of roof deflectors 2 inclined downwards in the direction of flow in conjunction with parallel floor baffles 3. Intervening pits 4, 8 collect the dust and the action is assisted by steam or water roof nozzles 11 arranged adjacent the upstream face of deflectors and directed towards the corresponding catch-pit. Co-operating vertical deflectors 10, 6 increase the kinetic energy locally. The deflectors may be of brickwork. The flue instead of being straight may be arranged around the base of a chimney.
