309,013. Crabtree, W. A. Jan. 3. 1928. Shearing; shear-blades.-A machine for trimming rectangular &c. sheet metal boxes, box-lids &c. comprises a fixed die 2 on which the work is held by spring pressed clamps 17, 17<a> controlled through linkage by a cam 20<d> on, a main shaft 10. The die 2 is surrounded by an endless cutter 3 provided with rollers 13, 13<a> engaging disc cams, the cams being provided with surface grooves guiding other rollers on the cutter, so that a gyratory motion is imparted to the cutter in order that it may trim the whole periphery of the work in a progressive manner. The cams are driven through spiral gearing from the shaft 10. A cam 20g actuates an ejector 22. The plane of the trimming-dies and of the cutter actuation cams is inclined to the horizontal.
