Aromatizing air. - Air-treating apparatus comprises a casing 1, having a restricted mouth 11 fitted with a funnel-shaped deflector 2, and an electric fan 3 mounted on resilient buffers 14, and the treating-agent is contained in a pervious or perforated receptacle which is either superimposed on the bottom or top plates as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 or formed concentrically integral with the casing as shown in Fig. 2. The inlet and outlet openings are fitted with screens 11, 12, Fig. 1, and the buffers 14 are clamped on a perforated plate 4. The perforated receptacle 15 is provided with a projecting wick 16 and is arranged in the space 6 accommodating the fan motor 5. Perforated plates 7 having staggered openings 8, gauze filters 13, and a pervious cartridge 9 containing cotton wool &c. saturated with a purifying agent, are arranged at the rear of the fan. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the tanks 22, 23 contain respectively purifying and odoriferous liquids which are led by supply pipes 25 having branches 26 so as to flow down fabric screens in the casing 1. Valves 31, 32, controlling the'pipes 25, are adapted to operate simultaneously with the operation of the fan 3. A drainage tray 30 is provided at the base of the casing. The apparatus shown in Fig. 2 is for use as a flower bowl, the restricted mouth, funnel deflector and fan 3 being disposed at the base, and the pervious receptacle 9<1> for the treating agent 9 being concentrically integral with the casing. In a further modification, air enters at the top of the casing and passes through a funnel-shaped deflector, and rearwardly of the fan is caused to converge towards a perforated receptacle having a number of projecting wicks. An electric-heater attachment may be provided for fitting to the outlet of the casing. Suitable treating-agents are formalin, carbolic acid, &c. with a suitable aromatic balsam or perfume, and such agents may be in the form of cartridges containing different combinations of purifying and fragrant substances.
