Abstract

306,581. Bennis, A. W. Nov. 23, 1927. Grates.-In a travelling grate the carriers 4 for the firebars 1 are provided with pivoted conveyers 3 for fine fuel and ash which riddles through the grate bars, such conveyers being displaced at certain points of their travel to deposit the fine fuel and ash into separate receptacles 7, 8, 9. The conveyers are supported in their normal horizontal position by guide rails 6 which are interrupted above the receptacles to allow the conveyers to discharge. The ends of the guide rails are curved to avoid sudden displacement of the conveyers and the ends of adjacent rails may overlap. In the arrangement shown fine fuel is deposited in the receptacle 7, large ash in the receptacle 8 and fine ash in the receptacle 9. In an alternative arrangement the intermediate receptacle is dispensed with and the ash deposited in a receptacle at the rear of the grate. Specification 306,605 is referred to.
