Abstract
305,522. Perl, A. H. F. Nov. 5, 1927. Valve gear.-Play in the tappet valve mechanism is taken up by the insertion of a spring device, preferably comprising plates 1, 2 connected by a spring loop 3 and formed by bending a flat stamping. The plate 2 is flat to engage the adjusting-nut c of the tappet b, and the plate 1 is bollowed at 4 to receive the valve stem a. In another form, the lower plate is shaped to fit over the tappet, so that the device may be used for turning the adjusting-nut c. The two plates may be connected by a part-helical spring portion.
