Cow-milkers.-In a milking-machine wherein vacuum and pneumatic pulsations in hoses 20, 21, respectively, are transmitted directly to the teat cups a or to a secondary pulsator b and an electromagnetically operated pulsator controls the pulsations in the hose 20, a valve 13 is provided for establishing connection between the hose 21 and a main vacuum pipe wand the parts are so arranged that on opening this valve electrical connections are automatically established for setting the pulsator into operation. The pulsator comprises a combined armature and valve 23 which when in its lower position opens the hose 20 to atmosphere through a tube 18 and when in its raised position connects vacuum to the hose 20. The valve body 13 has projections 33 adapted to engage with a contact 32 on a ring 30 which is mounted on a ring 25 of insulating material but is connected with one terminal of the electromagnet 22. The other terminal is connected to a ring 26 which is similarly mounted on an insulating ring 24. The ring 26 is connected by a wire t to a brush s of a generator r fitted in a casing p which is mounted on the vacuum pump casing k and encloses a pinion m in gear with a wheel n carrying a semi-circular contact strip o. The other brush n of the generator is earthed by a connection v when the strip o contacts a brush q. Specifications 145,520, 280,893, and 302,990 are referred to.
